Mary O’Connor, D.D.S. [President]
Dr. O'Connor joined the board in November 2004.  A practicing pediatric dentist in San Diego, she enjoys serving on the Executive Committee and the Operations Committee.  She received her B.A. from the University of San Diego and her D.D.S. degree from Loyola University School of Dentistry in Chicago.  She received her Specialty certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from Loyola University and trained in both Chicago and Flint, Michigan.  She is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and is on staff at Scripps Mercy and Children's Hospital of San Diego and is on the Cleft Lip and Palate Team at Children's. When not doing dental-related things, Dr. O'Connor loves to garden, read and travel with her husband and 3 children.  She is an active volunteer at her children's grade school.

Susan Leary, DDS [Vice President]
Prior to her Navy career, Dr Leary worked for the Sate of North Carolina Public Health Department.  She,then, spent one year in private practice.  Once married to her husband, an officer in the Navy Dental Corps, the logical progression was to accept a Navy Officer Commission. Her Navy career started in 1985 and she retired in 2005.   During the last ten years in the Navy, Dr. Leary  prioritized providing Dental Treatment for special needs family members of Active Duty Personnel.  After retiring, she participated as a Faculty/Staff Member at Rady Children's Hospital Pediatric Dental Residency Program.  Six Pediatric Dentist have graduated from the program and are providing needed dental access for deprived pediatric patients.  She is currently associating in a private office.  Dr Leary's family passion includes her husband, CAPT Terry Leary, DC, USN stationed at Miramar Marine Corps Air Station providing Dental Services for Active Duty Members and her sons: Christopher (22 years old) and Timothy ( 17 years old).    Scrapbooking is Dr. Leary's third passion, to ensure preservation of memories for the following generations.  Dr. Leary is dedicated to helping provide dental access for all children.  Oral Health is an essential component for  complete personal health.  Healthy children, grow, learn and succeed.

Darshan Dabir, DDS, MS [Secretary]
Dr. Dabir was born and raised in India. He completed his dental schooling there and came to New Orleans for his residency in pediatric dentistry. He graduated in 2000 and taught at LSU for two years prior to making his home in San Diego.   He maintains a full time pediatric dentistry practice. Dr. Dabir has joined the Board of Directors at CDHA and is currently heading the Operations Committee for Children's Dental Health Center.

Robert Chakarian, CPA [Immediate Past President] [Treasurer]
Mr. Chakarian is a founder and president of Chakarian & Associates, CPA’s Inc. a California corporation. Chakarian & Associates provides Individual, Partnership and Corporation tax planning and preparation, accounting services, management advisory and consulting services and retirement planning. Mr. Chakarian has over 20 years of experience in the public accounting field. Mr. Chakarian is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He also currently servers on the Board of Directors as treasurer for Mountain Shadows Support Group, a 117 bed facility for the developmentally disabled located in Escondido and a 78 bed facility for children located in Riverside.

Diana Corley, RDH, BS [Board Member]
Diana has served as an Advisory Board member since 2002 and welcomes the opportunity to serve and assist the growth of CDHA. A graduate of Wichita State University, she has been actively practicing dental hygiene for over 25 years. She was also employed by Trammell Crow Residential as a Project Manager for apartment planning, construction and management. She is a Past President of the San Diego County Dental Hygienists’ Society, Trustee to the California Dental Hygienists’ Association and is currently serving as the Membership Council Chair for the state association. As a mother, Diana volunteered considerable time to schools, soccer clubs and youth programs.

Jennifer Campbell, RDA ( Board Member)
Jennifer is a Registered Dental Assistant who has lived in San Diego since 1968. Specializing in Pediatric Dentistry for over 24 years. Jennifer has worked in a private pediatric dental practice in South Bay for 18 years, Rady Children's Hospital Dental Residency Program / San Diego Children's Dental Health Center and now for Dr. Mary M. O'Connor. Her passion is quality dental care for children and those with special needs. She enjoys family, gardening, and designing and fabricating stained glass windows along with jewelry.

Stephen Fallica [Board Member]
Mr. Stephen Fallica recently joined the Board of Directors of Children’s Dental Health Center. He works for the Union Bank of California in the La Jolla Branch. He is Vice President in Priority Banking and manages a portfolio of clients who are business owners, as well as professionals in the medical, dental and legal fields. Stephen is a member of the La Jolla Rotary Club and Rotary International. Mr. Fallica is married and has two children. He has made his home in downtown San Diego for the last fourteen years.

Beverly Hom, RDH [Board Member]
Beverly has provided thousands of children in San Diego with quality dental care: As a dental hygienist consultant, she started the fluoride treatments in the city schools in the 80’s and in 1990 started a pilot sealant program for underserved children at Children’s Dental Health Center. Beverly has also spent many volunteer hours in classroom dental health education instruction. And, along the way, she’s had time for the Children’s Dental Health Association serving as its president three times, the Charity Ball Committee 2007, the board of the United Way, and the San Diego Chinese Center serving as president, secretary and treasure. Beverly’s been involved with the PTA’s of her children’s schools, the Camp Fire Girls and the AAUW. Honors bestowed upon her include an Appreciation Award from the California Department of Health Services, Office of Oral Health – 2001. Beverly and her husband of over 50 years, Ed, are native San Diegans. They have 3 children, 5 grandchildren and reside in Point Loma.

Katie Judd, MPA [Board Member]
Katie Judd is the Health Promotion Specialist for the County of San Diego’s Health and Human Services Agency in East Region. She received her Masters in Public Administration with a specialization in Organizational Leadership from National University and her BS in Health Education, with a certificate in Gerontology from Chico State.  Current projects include: working with east county school districts on implementation of their wellness policies, working with county and city governments on community design for healthier communities, and lead of the dental education subcommittee for the San Diego Dental Society Coalition.

Previously Katie worked in Health Promotion for the County of San Diego’s Aging and Independence Services.  She facilitated a Health Promotion Committee consisting of eighty-five aging networks and health care providers.  She is a certified older adult functional fitness instructor and served as the coordinator for over twenty Feeling Fit Club sites located at Senior Nutrition facilities.  She has experience in conference planning and intergenerational programming.  She assisted with the coordination of four Vital Aging Conferences and helped create the Intergenerational Games.

Kimberly Miller, RDH [Board Member]
Kimberly is a Registered Dental Hygienist who received her B.S. degree from the University of Southern California.  She was employed as Director of Development and Outreach for CDHA for almost 4 years and now returns as a board member.  She chaired the Rady Children’s Hospital 2007 Charity Ball and selected the Pediatric Dental Residency Program as its beneficiary.  Kimberly is a LEAD graduate and has been very active in the community for several decades.  She has served as President of the Junior League of San Diego, Mental Health America of San Diego, San Diego County Dental Hygienists’ Society, The Thursday Club, and Youth Tennis San Diego and chaired many community and school events.  Her passions are ‘dental and mental’, and she enjoys sports and traveling with her husband and family.

Kyomi O’Connor, D.M.D., Ph. D. [Board Member]
 Dr. Kyomi O’Connor became a new Board member in July, 2008. Kyomi was born in Japan and earned a dental degree and a Ph.D. in Tokyo before coming to the USA.  In 1990, Kyomi became a Fogarty International Visiting Associate at the National Institute of Dental Research, NIH in Bethesda, MD. With her passion to serve children through dental care, she later undertook a Specialty Program in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Maryland. After completing this training, Kyomi served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Maryland. In 1998, Kyomi moved to San Diego with her husband Patrick and has since enjoyed practicing in both the Indian Health Service and private practice. Of Kyomi’s many achievements she established the Pediatric Dental Department at Indian Health Council, Inc. and has provided a full scope of Pediatric Dentistry to children in the Indian community. Through her collaborative service with staff in other departments, Kyomi has seen lots of encouraging and positive changes in oral health and well-being of children she has served over the years. Kyomi loves traveling with her husband Patrick, taking ‘arty’ photographs, flower arrangement classes and various volunteer work in her community.  

Leslie Sennett (Executive Secretary)*
Leslie has worked for the City of San Diego for over sixteen years.  She is pleased to also work with the Children's Dental Health Association to raise awareness and reduce disparities in the dental health status of families.  In her spare time, Leslie is a wife, mother and an avid reader.

A. Druann Andrecht, RDH (Director of Development and Outreach)*
Druann, a Registered Dental Hygienist, has been active within the San Diego County dental community since 1970. As a member of her professional associations she has served as President of the San Diego Component as well as being active at the state and national levels. One of her most enjoyable opportunities was to be the Keynote Speaker for the first graduating class of dental hygiene students from SWC Dental Hygiene Program. Her passion is dentistry and our youth. The very proud mother of an Army 1st Lt., she spent many years as a Team Mom, PTA/PTSA President and the parent advisor for BVHS Class of 98.

Barbara Darling [Chief Financial Officer]*
Now the CFO, as a seasoned bookkeeper, Barbara Darling originally joined the board in 1984 as Secretary-Treasurer, following in the footsteps of her mother-in-law who had the role since 1968. She has improved and streamlined a much more efficient accounting system for CDHA. Additionally, Barb has assisted the Dental Director, Executive Director and President in coordinating efforts through fund raising campaigns, correspondence, annual report, newsletter, open house, and continuing education lectures.
